THE MATCH MEETING
Before the agency will set up a match call/match meeting you will have already seen the Intended parents profile, photos and will have had the opportunity to ask the agency all your questions about them specifically. If you like a profile and feel comfortable proceeding, the agency will share your profile with the hopeful parent(s) and if they feel equally as comfortable – the agency will work to set up this initial match meeting! With everyone’s location being all over the place, the initial call tends to be done via video chat, someone from the agency will also be on this call to help guide the conversation and ensure everyone feels supported. This step is done to allow you and the parent(s) to get to know a bit more about each other and ask any preliminary questions.
What happens after the match call?
A date or so after the call the agency will reach out to you and see how you are feeling and if you want to move forward with that family. You are under no obligation to say yes, if you didn’t love the chemistry, or maybe your heart whispered “keep looking” – the agency can show you some additional profiles in hopes of finding as close to a perfect match as they have. We like to keep things very real – the matching process can take 4-6 weeks, so be patient – it will be worth the wait!!
